Meet ACCESO Volunteer: Nora

During our 25th Anniversary celebration, we are introducing you to the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to promote greater access to education. This month we meet Nora, a former teacher and dedicated volunteer with ACCESO since retiring over ten years ago. Nora currently sits on ACCESO’s Board of Directors and 25th anniversary committee where she is a passionate advocate for access to education for all.

Immediately after retirement I knew I wanted to travel, and some of the most interesting travel experiences I had were as a volunteer with education projects in Kenya, China, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.  When I heard about ACCESO’s year round involvement with supporting education in Latin American countries, I knew volunteering was a way I could stay connected with education in places where it is developing. Being part of ACCESO is a very inspiring experience for me. It enriches my life to see the relationships develop between students aspiring to achieve education for careers in teaching, health care, communications and business in their home countries. I benefit by membership with a dedicated community of volunteers and know that our solidarity with our members, donors and partners is making a difference. It is exciting to celebrate ACCESO’s 25 years and to move forward with the next generation of Amigos volunteers
