Happy New Year! ¡Feliz año nuevo!
We are thrilled to have you join us in 2021 as ACCESO International celebrates its 25th anniversary. That’s a quarter century of promoting and enabling greater access to all levels of education in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada.
To kick-off this momentous occasion, we are proud to launch ACCESO’s new logo, which was designed by former ACCESO Amigos Club member, high school student, and aspiring graphic designer Rachel. She has creatively captured ACCESO’s commitment to education for all, one pencil at a time – we hope you enjoy our new “look”!
Who could have imagined in 1996, when Christine Gervais first founded ACCESO, that we would be celebrating this milestone during a pandemic! Yet, such a world crisis has reminded us of our responsibility to remain steadfast in our resolve to support students, schools and communities that have been disproportionately impacted by overwhelming barriers, including socio-economic ones exacerbated by COVID-19.
Thus, this year, as we reflect on the achievements of ACCESO’s sponsored students and the rippling effects of your generosity, we will also prioritize support for marginalized students whose daily survival and access to education have become even more precarious due to the pandemic. Education remains vital to the well-being of the communities we serve – whether it’s enabling children to develop lifelong skills, offering opportunities for individual stability and community sustainability, or providing training for doctors, nurses, teachers and other essential workers on the frontlines of the pandemic. To this end, we hope you can help us meet our goal this year to raise $25,000 dollars from individual donations, and $25,000 more through a virtual edition of the Sounds and Tastes of the Americas later in 2021.
To help keep you informed of ACCESO events, fundraising campaigns, as well as highlights from country-specific projects and ACCESO Amigos Club members, we will be sending out a monthly newsletter.
